Title: First 3D models in Outerra
Post by: monks on May 10, 2013, 03:58:16 pm
I'm tooling around with getting some models into Outerra and trying to establish a 3D modelling workflow. Very basic stuff at the moment. I'm writing some documentation as I do it. I'll post that when it's half decent- it might help  :) I'm using Max 2013.

First pic is two textured spheres. One using normal mapping.
Second is a tower about 70 feet high. No texturing as yet. There's a feature to flatten the ground first but not used that here.

Very nice.  Did we give up on those Carn Dum models?

I should still have them somewhere- do you mean Minas Tirith or Carn Dum btw?

Jumping over here from the 8 bit heightmap thread in the interest of keeping things on topic.

Here are the links to the models I've exported from Minecraft so far along with proper credit to their creator.

Minas Tirith (http://morcrist.com/files/minecraft/MinasTirith.zip), created by Divici (http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/minas-tirith-11-scale-1818179/) and hosted over on http://planetminecraft.com (http://planetminecraft.com).

Helm's Deep (http://morcrist.com/files/minecraft/helm's_deep.zip), created by EpicQuestz (http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/helms-deep-1927706/) also over on Planet Minecraft.

That's it so far. I've got a really nice Rivendell by Divici I believe, but it's got a LOT of terrain in the model so I dunno'. I can try and you can tell me if it's viable. I've got work tomorrow so I'll try and get some more done later.

Take care.

Apparently there's a huge Minas Triith, about 34 MB by DiVici.
I tried registering on planetminecraft but I had a lot of problems with the captcha. Lot of dumb questions about hoes and zombies  >:( ...wouldn't accept my responses even though I looked all the questions up. Will try again later.

If anyone wants to watch the progress of Minas Tirith being built by Ennecap check this thread out:
